This place saved me and my mother. We were driving back from Cambria, Ca. It was a 5.5 hr. Drive. We called the destination assist from her Lexus. She asked for the shortest route. OMG, it took us through vineyards ( beautiful), then up and over mountains and through the desert. Because of the hairpin turns and absolutely no humans for hundreds of miles we both desperately needed to restroom! I had to pee on the side of the road. My mom wouldn't. Finally we saw this building in the middle of nowhere. Penny Bar! It looked so scary from the outside.
I thought it was closed. Never so happy to see doors. Air conditioner, a state of the art jukebox, drinks, food and thankfully a crapper!!! Yes! Thank you everybody. You saved me and my mother.
Best option for a food break on your way to or from Carrizo Plain for the super blooms.
Service was fast and friendly and it felt like such a charming little place. The penny bar is a room covered in pennies and the roof has dollar bills pinned up.
Coming from SF, I was amazed that our bill was under $20 even after tipping over 20%!
I love eating here!
They have a BBQ ribeye to die for! Served Wednesday until gone. Order the small, I am almost a competitive eater, and it is too big for me! If I were to share it, I might consider ordering the large.
The staff is always friendly, and the decorations are fun to look at.
Awesome little hole in the wall dive bar with dank food and amazing service with great super nice servers definitely worth checking out!
The server is about the rudest I have ever encountered. After viewing the beautiful flowers around soda lake, our party of 8 stopped at this very interesting place for lunch. From the moment we walked in, this haggard looking server advised our party she was busy and it would probably be an hour before she would get around to taking our order. We proceeded to sit down when she walked over and advised she didn't have time to deal with us. We, obviously, left. I wonder how many customers she has ran off? I know our party of wonderful ladies will never return.
